TURNOVER OF DONATION TO TYPHOON YOLANDA
Typhoon Haiyan, known asTyphoon Yolanda in the Philippines, was a powerful tropical typhoon that devastated Eastern Visayas on November 8, 2013. It is the deadliest Philippine typhoon on record, killing thousands of people in that region. Haiyan/Yolanda is also the strongest storm recorded to make landfall. Typhoon Yolanda has set back the Philippine National Police in almost five regions based on the reports from Police Regional Offices 4b, 6, 7, 8, and CARAGA (13). These are damages in infra structures and equipment such as vehicles, communication equipment, firearms and ammunition, office computers and appliances, among others. The PNPFI has diverted funds for all approved projects for the first two quarters of FY 2013-14 to the PNP units affected by the super typhoon. As our Vice Chair Ms Teresita Ang See has said, we are enabling or empowering our police units in the affected areas to help their fellow countrymen even as they and their families are likewise victims of this typhoon. We are turning them into resources rather than consumers of aid.
